As soon as it stops, the " Copy Mode" button and the backlighting on the screen extinguish. Some sort of feeder bar then makes a very quick turn or two and stops. The print head/ink cartridges slide all the way to the right, then back to their starting position, all the way left. The " Copy Mode" button lights up and " Lexmark 5400 Series" appears on the screen. My computer makes the " ding dong" sound, indicating it is detecting the printer. Unplugging the USB cable has no effect either. The USB cable is connected and tested fine with other devices. None of the buttons on the faceplate seem to have any effect, nor does opening the printer (exposing the cartridges.) I did not change any settings on the printer or in the computer before this started. Once it is plugged back in, the cycle continues. It was working great for about 6 months, but now it is stuck in a power-up/shut-down cycle, and the only way to stop it is to unplug it.
